Relaxing ~ Recharging ~ Rejuvenating

Living on Earth right now is exciting, challenging, and stressful! Even good stress is still stress. Getting married sets your sympathetic system off and pumps your adrenals in the same way that having your home broken into does.

The world has “shrunk.” Just a hundred years ago a trip to Europe involved months of voyage. Today it takes only hours. Not that many years ago we where unaware of what was going on on the other side of our own country. Now we are blasted with pictures on the t.v. in our living room of children's faces as they are dying of starvation on the opposite side of the planet.

Thousands of years ago we lived in nature. I am not saying that life was easy then. But we did have a lot more peacefulness. There was quiet time in which to rest and recharge. K-mart wasn’t open 24 hours. Trucks were not picking up and grinding garbage outside your home at 3:00 a.m. There was no need for day care centers or nursing homes, because we where surrounded by family, both real and extended. There was no such thing as a a child being born addicted to crack.

The world has changed drastically in the last three hundred years. But out bodies have not. We have basically the same physiology that our ancestors had thousands of years ago. We are trying to deal with a fast-paced, and quickly changing world with very dated equipment, our bodies! However there is a way to deal more effectively, and that is to update and upgrade our equipment, our minds.

Obviously we are not going to change the world. All we can do is work on ourselves. De-stressing is allowing your body, emotions and mind to experience peace and calm. To give yourself time in which to rest and recharge. There are many ways to do this. All of them require that we remove ourselves from the whirling world, if only for a few moments.

An interesting experiment was conducted with frogs. They where placed in a pot of water on a stove. The heat was on very low. It was turned up in exceedingly small increments. Each time the frogs “adjusted” to the increased heat, until they died! Humans do the same thing. We keep “adjusting” to greater amounts of stress until we crack.

Take care of yourself now. Learn techniques to help you relax and de-sress your body and your mind. You will be healthier, live longer, and be happier. Your deep relaxation session will be tape recorded so that you have this valuable tool to use at home.
